The Manchester Christmas Light Switch On returns to Albert Square on Saturday, 3 November 2018 from 7.30pm.
Stars of the stage and screen will perform including Jonas Blue, Max George, the cast from Wicked, Dr Dolittle and The Producers. The night will be topped off by a huge firework display.

Welcome in the start of Christmas festivities in Manchester at the Lights Switch-On with number one star Jonas Blue. Albert Square will be the setting for the biggest show in the city as stars of stage and screen come out in force on Saturday, 3 November – topped off by a spectacular firework display.

This year’s Leeds Christmas Lights switch-on is set to be an absolute knock-out when world champion Josh Warrington presses the button and get the festive season officially underway!

Leeds-born Josh, the current IBF world champion, will be joined onstage at Victoria Gardens by Britain’s Got Talent’s Micky P Kerr and 2017 X Factor finalist Kevin Davy White on the evening of November 8 for this year’s spectacular Leeds Christmas Lights Switch-on.

As part of a show-stopping evening of entertainment, comedian Micky, also from Leeds, will perform some of his live musical comedy including a specially penned song and sing-along about the Christmas lights.

Singer songwriter Kevin Davy White, a finalist in last year’s X Factor will also be performing a number of popular songs for an expected crowd of thousands.

Hosted by new radio media partner Radio Aire breakfast show presenters Ant and Caroline, the annual seasonal showpiece takes place in front of Leeds Art Gallery on Thursday, November 8 with entertainment starting from 6.45pm.

Cbeebies favourites Alex Winters and Katy Ashworth will entertain the crowds with a festive singalong along with panto favourite Jez Edwards, who will be appearing as Phillipe Philoppe in Beauty and the Beast at the Carriageworks Theatre.

Also appearing at the event and opening the show will be Leeds based indie pop four-piece VICTORS who have previously performed on This Morning and Hollyoaks, 2018 Breeze has Talent winner Frankie Bounds along with representatives from the New Zealand and England Rugby League squads ahead of the upcoming international game at Elland Road in November.

Lord Mayor of Leeds Cllr Graham Latty will be on hand along with the new Children’s Mayor – 11 year old Rio Abbott from Grange Farm Primary school, whose winning manifesto aims to raise awareness of and tackle racism.

There will also be a very special performance by Emeli Mumford, 16, from Prince Henry’s School in Otley, who has written and co-produced an original Christmas song called ‘Dear Santa’, in aid of the charity Save the Children.

Other attractions on the night will include fun fair rides along Cookridge Street, street food concessions with entertainment culminating in the big switch-on of one of the UK’s largest displays of city centre festive illuminations and spectacular fireworks.

As part of the lights switch-on, the following road closures will also be in place on the night along with other traffic management measures.

Bristol Cabot Circus Christmas Light Switch On

Get ready for a Christmas light switch-on like no other as Cabot Circus kick off the festive season in samba style from 5pm on Friday 9th November.

The unique, Latin-infused fiesta begins at 5pm with Heart FM playing tunes to get you in the festive mood. Carnival dancers will then fill Cabot Circus with colour, parading through the crowds to the beat of Brazilian drums.

We’ll also be revealing our brand new Christmas Grotto in Quakers Friars and our new Chirstmas lights, featuring the much-loved reindeer and lots of selfie opportunities!

Home to the largest lights installation in the capitalRegent Street is best known for its awe-inspiring ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ lights. These stunning suspended spirits were inspired by Regent Street’s very first Christmas lights scheme, which were the first ever central London Christmas lights in 1954.

Heralding the start of the festive season, join Regent Street for a triumphant celebration of the switch-on moment and see the stunning spirits return to London’s most iconic shopping street.

From 5pm – 9pm on Thursday 15th November, Regent Street are inviting Londoners and visitors alike to join them on a traffic-free Regent Street to mark the switch-on moment. Soak up the atmosphere and await the dramatic switch-on show, taking place from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. Promising a fun and festive evening, there will be an array of surprise acts – previous guests include the likes of Paloma Faith, Tom Odell and Clean Bandit.

Norwich Christmas Light Switch On

Don’t miss the party of the year when the streets of Norwich sparkle and shine and music fills the night at the annual Christmas Switch-on.

There’ll be a parade with Father Christmas, entertainment in front of City Hall and the switching on of the city centre lights from 6pm.

The Tunnel of Light is back this year! The tunnel will be going live at the same time as the lights in the City. To get in on the action use the hashtag #MyTunnelOfLight on both Twitter and Instagram when posting your photos.

And for even more excitement the projections on the Castle are back. This year the projections will show a variety of films, for everyone to enjoy.

16 – 18 November

Oxford Christmas Light Festival

Oxford Christmas Light Festival takes place between Friday 16th and Sunday 18th November and under the theme ‘Undiscovered Oxford’ showcases some lesser known aspects of the city. The weekend sees free festive events, musicians, dancers and choirs appearing around the city centre, unique craft workshops and informative talks, stalls offering hand-made gifts and delicious food, stunning indoor exhibitions and spectacular performances, mesmerising outdoor installations and, launching the weekend, the lantern parade through Oxford’s historic streets.

There will be street artists, music and dance stages plus outdoor exhibitions and seasonal market with craft and  street food stalls, there is plenty of entertainment for all.

New and exciting light and sound installations can be found at the Westgate Oxford and Oxford Castle Quarter along with performance stages in Broad Street and Gloucester Green. Get involved in interactive and digital projects. Watch the iconic lantern parade with our local young people.

Well over 100 events take place over the weekend including dozens from the city’s cultural organisations. Residents and visitors can enjoy an unparalleled experience of Oxford’s streets, open spaces and buildings historical and modern.

Belfast Christmas Light Switch On

17 November

Join Belfast as the city gets festive and join the Lord Mayor and her special guests, Paw Patrol’s Skye and Marshall, Fireman Sam and Norman Price, and TV presenter Andy Day, as we light up for Christmas!

Q Radio’s breakfast team Stephen and Cate will host the evening and lots of musical fun awaits with mini shows and traditional carols before the big switch-on.

It will take place on Saturday 17 November, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm (approx.) in front of City Hall. A great way for families to countdown to Christmas.

Gates will open on the evening at 6pm with live entertainment on stage from this time.

Light Night – George Street Edinburgh

Light Night is a free event for all to enjoy, which encapsulates the true spirit of the festive season: family and the community. Choirs from across Scotland will perform in front of an expected audience of around 20,000 people, as we light up George Street with fireworks. Hosted by Forth Radio’s Arlene Stuart.

Edinburgh are delighted to welcome our special guest Saskia Eng who competed on this year’s The Voice to switch on the city’s Christmas lights. Saskia attended City of Edinburgh Music School from the age of 11 and has performed in front of many large crowds across the country. During The Voice Saskia was mentored by legendary Tom Jones and reached the Knockout stage of the competition.

The Christmas Tree on the Mound, a gift to the City of Edinburgh Council from Hordaland County Council in Norway, will be lit as part of the Light Night switch-on.

Cheltenham Christmas Lights Switch On

Prepare to be dazzled, excited and delighted as a battle of good versus bad unfolds in Cheltenham… Will you support the Wicked White Witch or Santa as they battle it out to turn on the Christmas Lights? The light switch-on is divided into three zones; The Brewery Quarter, Regent Arcade and The Town Centre, each with a unique theme and entertainment.
